สาระสำคัญ
Can & could เป็น verb
ที่สามารถใช้ได้ในกรณีต่างๆต่อไปนี้
Possibility= ความเป็นไปได้
๑. ใช้ can ใช้กล่าวถึงสิ่งที่เป็นไปได้ เช่น
-teaching can a
pleasure.
๒. ถ้าเรากล่าวถึงสิ่งที่เป็นไปไม่ได้อย่างแน่นอนในปุจจุบันเราใช้
cannot หรือ can’t
-you have just had your lunch. I am
sure you can’t be hungry.
๓. เมื่อเรากล่าวถึงสิ่งที่ไม่แน่ใจว่าเป็นไปได้หรือเปล่า
แต่ผู้พูดคิดว่าเป็นไปได้ ในปัจจุบันในกรณีนี้ใช้ could
A: she looks worn out. What’s the
matter with her?
B: I’ve heard that she have just moved
to a new house. And she is busy unpacking. Moreover, she has to go to work
every day.
A: that could be a factor.
๔. ถ้าเรากล่าวถึงสิ่งที่เป็นไปได้ในอดีต
แต่ผู้พูดไม่แน่ใจเหตุการณ์นั้นเกิดขึ้นหรือเปล่า ต้องใช้ could have+v.3
-that soup was tasty, it could have
been tomato soup.
๕. ใช้ could
not have+v.3 เพื่อบอกว่าสิ่งนั้นเป็นไปไม่ได้ในอดีต เช่น
-he didn’t have
a gun, so he couldn’t have killed himself.
๖. ใช้ could
not + Adjective ในขั้นกว่า มีความหมาย =
......... ที่สุด
-he couldn’t be
happier.= เขามีความสุขอย่างที่สุด
